Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, 2026. It's always the day after Thanksgiving, which falls on Thursday, November 26 this year. Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30, 2026.

How the Black Friday date is set
Thanksgiving in the U.S. is the fourth Thursday of November, and Black Friday is the next day. So Black Friday always falls between November 23 and November 29. In 2026, the fourth Thursday is Nov. 26, which puts Black Friday on Nov. 27, one of the latest possible dates. That leaves a short gap before December, which helps explain why retailers started early deals in late October.

When do Black Friday sales start?
For most shoppers, Black Friday is now a season, not a day. Confirmed 2026 start dates:
- Best Buy started DoorBOOsters on Oct. 30, and Early Black Friday deals started Nov. 6, with new deals every Friday.
- Target launched a daily Deal of the Day on Nov. 1 and ran Early Black Friday deals Nov. 5 to 7.
- Walmart runs Early Black Friday Deals Nov. 12 to 15, then starts its Black Friday Deals event online on Nov. 23 at 12:01 a.m. ET.
- Amazon says early deals are already live in its Holiday Shop.

What time does Black Friday start?
It depends on the store. Online, many events start at 12:01 a.m. Eastern. In stores, Walmart says Black Friday Deals arrive at 6 a.m. local time on Friday, Nov. 27. We'll add other opening times to the store hours page as retailers confirm them.
When does Black Friday end?
The day ends at midnight on Nov. 27, but the sales usually don't:
- Walmart's Black Friday Deals event runs through Sunday, Nov. 29.
- Best Buy's Black Friday doorbusters run for 10 days starting Nov. 19.
- Cyber Monday takes over on Nov. 30. Walmart's Cyber Monday event runs to Dec. 2, and Best Buy's Cyber Week Deals run Dec. 1 to 6.

Is Black Friday a holiday?
Black Friday isn't a federal holiday. Thanksgiving is, but the day after doesn't appear on the federal holiday list. Many employers and schools give the day off anyway.
